Work in Progress Many schools have begun to implement type based learning, as many forms of communication are now typer rather than handwritten. Although learning type is very important, there's still numerous benefits to writing by hand. Handwriting training can improve spelling accuracy, better memory+recall, and improved letter recognition. Cursive specifically engages fine motor coordination. Just perceiving physical letters activates parts of the brain related to writing processes. Drawing by hand activates larger neural networks in the brain. Knowing this, how can we make learning Cursive fun and engaging for children ages 7-9? Scribble Quest is a choose your own adventure game, where children can only proceed through the story by tracing action statements using cursive. To expand upon this project, I plan to further refine the UI finish the branching storyline for the game, and develop a physical model to test proportions.
